**Florian Kessler was born in Heidelberg in 1981.
He studied creative writing and cultural journalism in Hildesheim, was co-editor of the local literary magazine BELLA triste and co-founder of the prosanova literature festival, which will be held again in June 2020 under the direction of current students.
He received his PhD with a literary thesis on "workshop conversations", published the non-fiction book about protests Mut Bürger in 2013, and worked for a while as a freelance literary critic for various newspapers.
Since 2015, he has been an editor for German-language literature and nonfiction at Carl Hanser Verlag, Munich.
