Philipp Scholz

Philipp Scholz was born in Dresden in 1990.

He was a student at the Hochschule für Musik Carl-Maria von Weber Dresden and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig.

In 2007 Philipp won the first prize at the national competition Jugend Jazzt. In 2014, he was able to win the young Munich Jazz Prize with the band PLOT. In 2017, he was awarded the Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Award of the Marion Ermer Foundation.

Concerts have taken him to India, USA, Poland, Latvia, Finland, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France and Portugal.

Since 2015, he has formed a duo with the author Nora Gomringer.

Philipp Scholz worked with and learned from: Werner Neumann, Heinrich Köbberling, Rudi Mahall, Pablo Held, Hayden Chisholm, Jürgen Friedrich, Johannes Enders, Yves Theiler and many others.

Currently Philipp Scholz lives in Leipzig and works as a lecturer for the subject Jazz/Rock/Pop at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig.
