Tomer Gardi was born in Kibbutz Dan in Israel.
He studied literature and education in Jerusalem, Berlin and Beer Sheva.
His first novel Stein, Papier was published in Hebrew in 2011 and translated into German in 2013.
The second novel, Broken German was published by Droschl in 2016. He read part of it at the 2016 Ingeborg Bachmann Prize.
The radio play adaptation of Broken German won the ARD German Radio Play Prize in 2017, and in 2018 the Schauspielhaus Graz adapted the text for the stage.
For WDR and BR he wrote the radio play Die Feuerbringer, a Schlager Operetta. For SWR, he is writing the play Wie die Blinden träumen for 2019.
Sonst kriegen Sie Ihr Geld zurück, his current novel, appeared in Hebrew in 2018, with the German translation to follow in 2019 from Droschl Verlag.
