Gerhild Steinbuch, born in Mödling (Austria) in 1983, studied scenic writing in Graz and dramaturgy at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch, Berlin. She writes texts for spoken and musical theater, essays, radio plays, and prose, and also works as a freelance dramaturg and translator from English.

She enjoys working collectively, for example for brut Wien with Freundliche Mitte or with the writers' collective Institute for Chauvinist Continuing Education. She is also a founding member of Nazis & Goldmund, a writers' alliance against the
European right.

Gerhild Steinbuch has taught at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig, among other places, and is currently a professor at the Institute for Language Arts at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
