The Center for Literature collaborates closely with the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, or Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (KHM). Together, they form a laboratory for literature and the literary formats of the future.
Since the 2017/2018 winter semester, KHM has offered the course of study literary writing, over the course of which the students come to Burg Hülshoff as emerging authors. The current professors of literary writing at KHM are the writers Navid Kermani and Ulrich Peltzer.
During the residencies, the team of Burg Hülshoff - Center for Literature supports the students in finding their way into professional artistic practice. This takes place over the course of workshops where the focus is placed on the performance of the individual (or also of groups) during readings, continues into the shared development of innovative formats taking place in the borders between literature, live art, Internet art, film, et cetera and also includes the organization of small tours of the students with these formats.
In this context, the Center for Literature has activated the network literaturland westfalen literaturland westfalen in order to give the students the option of sharing their work at a variety of locations within the Westphalian literature landscape.
The cooperation between KHM and Burg Hülshoff is made possible thanks to a funding program from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Ministry of Culture and Science) (Ministerium für Kultur und Wissenschaft).
