Ivana Sajko is a writer, director and performer living in Berlin. She studied Dramaturgy at Academy of Drama Arts, after which she obtained M.Sc. in Humanistic science at Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. She worked as a journalist, editor and playwrighting teacher, she was co-founded of the theatre group BAD co. and member of editorial board of performing arts magazine Frakcija.
She performed and directed her own texts with the musicians, experimenting with interdisciplinary approaches to the problems of drama writing and performing. Her books in German translation include: Archetyp: Medea. Bombenfrau. Europa: Trilogie, Verlag der Autoren (2008); Rio bar, Matthes & Seitz Berlin (2008); Trilogie des Ungehorsams, Verlag der Autoren (2012); Auf dem Weg zum Wanhsinn (und zum Revolution), Eine Lektüre, Matthes & Seitz Berlin (2015) and Liebesroman, Volan&Quist (2017) for which she received Internationales Literaturpreis of Haus der Kulturen der Welt together with her translator Alida Bremer. She recently staged her novel Rio bar at Stadttheater Gießen.
