Through song, poetry, and visual/performance art Andy the Doorbum (Andrew Fenstermaker) delves into the unpleasant realities and ugly truths of existence and the world at large. This is done through an immersion into the darkness with the intention to scrape and claw bits of the depths away to reveal the small flecks of light. To find what is beautiful through a process that elevates its inherent beauty by juxtaposing it against its harsh, bleak surroundings. To discover hope that is only recognizable because of its birth from a womb of despair. This painstaking labor is meant to expand on the realization that a tiny glimmer on a moonless night is more mesmerizing and brilliant than the brightest sun on the clearest day. Through this dichotomy, the world and existence within it, is viewed and interpreted. Simultaneously embraced and raged against. Growth from upheaval. Art for survival. Creativity or extinction.
